I know there are those who say-so you don't have to soak BP shreds...but it's complicated to teach an ripened dog new tricks...LOL.
Do you soak pellet?
Answers: Yes, I feed beet pulp pellet. First, I'm where they grow most of the sugar beets (Idaho), and in that are a number of plants around here. Oddly adequate, it's easier to come by the pellets, than the shreded beets.
Because I live within the high mountain desert, winters here are brutal. It's gloomy 30 most of the winter, and I've seen it dip to gloomy 68 for about a week previously.
Because it's desert, and so brutally cold, getting a horse to drink enough wet can be a factor. I mix COB (corn, oats, barley), alfalfa pellets, and beet pellet in a bucket, I affix at least one cup of vegtable grease to this also, for the extra fats for the horses.
I soak adjectives of this in HOT dampen. Sometimes carrots or apples are added, or some molasses. By the time it get out to the horses, with the winter weave chill, it will be cool enough for them to get through. That extra moisture, and the hot meal really help them during the winter.
Our power went out for two days end winter. No water from the ably, so the mix did not get soaked. I mixed it up the darkness before, and added an extra two cups of vegtable grease to everyones mix (I have 9 horses). Nobody have problems with the beet pellet not being soaked. However I do NOT reccomend doing this.you are asking for potential problems. I did NOT nurture this to my 29 year old horse, since he have choking problems. His mash must ALWAYS be soaked. I used cold hose down for his soaking.he didn't like it cold.
I've read the squirrel story too.hysterical.
My poor sweet husband didn't know around beet pellets, when we first married. I be sick one time, and he thought he'd save time. Instead of putting ingrediants into 9 buckets, and covering the kitchen floor, he thought he'd use one and only 4 buckets, and then dish it out into the horses nurture pans. Needless to vote there be MOUNDS of grain, an pulp around respectively bucket after he added the water.especially the one where on earth he tried to combined three rations. The coughing/laughter fit I had nearly kill me. I'm pretty sure, three years later, I'm still sweeping up beet pulp from that little incident.

both forms of sugar beet need soaking although they own different amounts of time needed. and speedibeet is available in england and is primarily a super fast soaking beet so that fairly than soaking a weeks worth in one shift you can soak it about 30mins until that time you need to use it. you can also buy alpha-a nurture made by dengie which is the usual chopped alfalpha chop mixed with suger beet - i don't dream up this needs any soaking
