My kitten keeps biting everyone. How do I teach him not to bite all the time!?

He's only 9 to 11 weeks old I'd say. He bites everyone.

When we started with our kitten he used to bite and scratch. It was just rough play and he eventually stopped. However, you can do some things to encourage him to stop.

Firstly, if he is scratching or biting when you hold him, put him down. He's after attention from you, and if you put him down when he behaves badly, eventually he'll realise that biting you stops the cuddles and stroking.

If it's a real problem, put him out of the room. Remember - he wants your company and attention. Depriving him of that is quite enough; there's no need to smack him, flick him, squirt him or poke your fingers down his throat. Remember - you want him to get used to you and feel comfortable with you; it really helps later on when you have to do difficult jobs like pill-giving or eye drops.

well when my sister first bought her cat she would spray him with a bottle of water just a little squirt to teach him its bad.. he eventually grew out of it... also dont moll him because it makes it worse.
Give his ear a gentle flick or nail his butt with a squirt gun. (If he bites fingers then push fingers into his mouth where he can't bite down and it becomes unpleasant but not so far that he gags or his breathing is obstructed.) The idea is to make it no fun for him.
tap him lightly in on the mouth at the exact moment he bites.(never punish a cat later because they get confused)
When my kitten misbehaves, I flick his ear with my finger. It doesn't cause pain, but it's irritating enough to distract him from whatever he isn't susposed to be doing.

If he gets too rough, try putting him in "timeout" for awhile to calm down. Just put him in a spare room or bathroom with his water and litter box for a half-hour or so, so he gets the chance to calm down.

It's pretty common for kittens to be overly rough when they play. It usually gets better as they get older.

You also might try coating your hands in a spray such as "Bitter Apple". When the kitten bites, he'll get a nasty taste in his mouth. This might discourage him from biting again.

Hope this helps...
He wants to play.
